Tian’anmen Square "Wonderful Winter Olympics" theme flower bed

As one of the 10 theme flowerbeds specially created for the Winter Olympics, the "Wonderful Winter Olympics" theme flower bed in Tian’anmen Square was lit up on the evening of the 20th. With the Chinese knot as the main scene, the flower bed combines the design of the Winter Olympics emblem, the five rings and the ice and snow elements.

"The Chinese knot is a traditional shape familiar to Chinese people, which has the meaning of reunion and unity, symbolizing that people all over the world work together to create a better future. The emblem of the Winter Olympics embodies the elements of the Winter Olympics, while the snowflakes represent the elements of ice and snow, signifying that the five continents celebrate the Winter Olympics together and welcome the Winter Olympics." Lan Hailang, chief designer of the flower beds in Tian’anmen Square and Chang'an Street, said.

Gorgeous Light Show in Shougang Big Air

On the evening of the 20th, a splendid light show was staged with the Shougang Big Air and the cooling tower as the background. In the 8-minute light show, the Winter Olympics ice and snow elements, Beijing city elements and Chinese New Year elements were presented one by one, which fully showed the gorgeous night landscape of the urban renewal and development of science and technology.

It is learned that Shijingshan District has now completed the installation of 4 Winter Olympics miniatures and 2 Spring Festival miniatures. The 4 characteristic blocks of Gaojing Road, Ancient City Pedestrian Street, Taiwan Street and Moshikou Street have completed the laying of more than 10,000 strings of lights, 1,200 snowflake lights and 250 groups of lanterns in total.

"Ice and Snow Corridor" lights up the Haidian Wuta Temple

On the bank of the South Changhe River, the newly renovated Wuta Temple Road is like an "Ice and Snow Corridor" linking the two Winter Olympic venues. With the design theme of "technology light rhyme - snow on the painting", Haidian District focuses on Tiancun Mountain, Capital Stadium, Wukesong Stadium, Zhongguancun Square and other areas to arrange the landscapes, including 7 landscape roads, 19 landscape nodes and a section of the mountain lighting.

The landscape miniature near the Central Axis Landscape Avenue are highly appreciated

The "Welcome Winter Olympics" landscape miniature located at the intersection of the Central Axis Landscape Avenue and Datun Road has become a new Internet-popular spot and is highly appreciated by the public.

Red lanterns are hung high on the Olympic Park Landscape Avenue. The "Grand Chapter" at the intersection of Beitucheng Road and National Avenue, the "Dual Olympics Celebration" on both sides of the Central Axis Landscape Avenue, the "Eternal Picture" at the west entrance of the Bird's Nest and the "Five Rings" logo at the southwest corner will welcome the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympic Games with a new gesture.

It is learned that on the evening of January 20, the city's 3 iconic landscapes, 10 thematic flower beds, 385 landscape vignettes, more than 200,000 lanterns and lights, 18,000 promotional road flags, more than 60,000 promotional images, 18 light shows and other Winter Olympics cityscapes have been put in place to welcome the arrival of the Winter Olympics and the Spring Festival in festive colors. In addition, the city's landscape lighting facilities will be turned on according to the level of major festive activities during the key time periods of the Winter Olympics and the Spring Festival.
