Chairman Mao Memorial Hall is located in Tiananmen Square, with a total area of 5.72 hectares and a construction area of 33867 square meters. The memorial hall was built in November 1976 and opened to the public on September 9, 1977. The memorial hall looks majestic, tall, straight, and solemn, with a unique national style.

Chairman Mao Memorial Hall is the highest Memorial Hall of the party and the country. It is the memorial hall of the party's first generation of revolutionary leaders with Comrade Mao Zedong as the core. It is a national patriotic education demonstration base. Since its opening in 1977, it has received more than 230 million people and more than 180 foreign heads of state and government.

The National Museum of China

In 2003, according to the decision of the central government, the Museum of Chinese History and the Museum of Chinese Revolution were merged into the National Museum of China. The newly built museum has a total land area of 70000 square meters, a height of 42.5 meters, five floors above the ground, two floors underground, and 48 exhibition halls. Covering an area of nearly 200000 square meters, it is the largest single-building museum in the world.
