Tianjin Zoo is located at the south end of the beautiful Water Park and adjacent to the Olympic Sports Center in the south. It was completed and opened on January 1, 1980. The park covers an area of 53.77 hectares, including 10.68 hectares of water surface area. It is a large urban zoo in China and the "top ten" zoo named by the Ministry of Construction. It was named Tianjin Science Popularization Education Base in 2001 and National Wildlife Protection Science Popularization Education Base in 2005.
