This year marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism has officially launched 10 boutique red tourism routes for citizens to explore red tourism resources and relive red memories. This article recommends the journey of the Olympic dream in prosperous China: Olympic Park, Olympic Tower, Olympic Forest Park, National Speed Skating Hall of "Ice Ribbon".
The Olympic Park is the location of the main venue of the Olympic Games and the area where the Olympic venues and facilities are most concentrated. Beijing Olympic Tower contains the spirit of the five Olympic rings. Olympic Forest Park is an ecological zone with sustainable development, which is dominated by natural landscapes and vegetation. As the only newly-built competition venue for ice events in Beijing Winter Olympics, the National Speed Skating Hall has reached the highest level of current domestic stadium construction.
Olympic Park
Olympic Park is the location of the main venue of the Olympic Games, the most concentrated area of Olympic venues and facilities, and also an important functional area and public activity center in the north of Beijing central city. Green Olympics is one of the three concepts for preparing for the Beijing Olympic Games. The planning scheme of the Olympic Park draws on the design concept of the central axis of the old city of Beijing. The northern end of the axis blends into the landscape and the water system runs through the whole park. Mountains, water systems, the central axis, and different functional lands form different landscapes.
As an important part of the Olympic Park, the Forest Park is a new extension to the central axis of Beijing, which makes this unparalleled urban axis melt perfectly in the natural mountain forest, embodying the ancient Chinese thought of "harmony between man and nature" and expressing respect for nature.
The water system of Olympic Park is like a dragon, which runs through the whole park from south to north, and the leading part of dragon-shaped water system is the main lake scenic spot of Forest Park. This scenic spot is located in the middle of the south half of the forest park, and together with the main mountain scenic spot, it builds the most magnificent natural landscape picture scroll in the forest park.
Tips:
In order to ensure the smooth progress of major activities in the park, according to the requirements of preparatory work, the central area of Beijing Olympic Park needs to be closed and managed from 0:00 on June 6 to 0:00 on July 1, 2021, with the specific scope of Beichen East Road (excluding roads) in the east, No.3 security checkpoint in the Olympic Park in the south, Beichen West Road (excluding roads, digital Beijing Tower and bus station of National Stadium) in the west, and National Stadium North Road (excluding roads) in the north. At that time, the central area of the park will be temporarily closed to the public, except those who hold special certificates for activities can enter the park through designated security checkpoints. Olympic Forest Park opens normally.

Olympic Tower
Beijing Olympic Tower is the highest building in the world authorized by the International Olympic Committee to permanently set the Olympic five-ring logo. Since it was officially named Beijing Olympic Tower on June 12, 2016, with the Olympic five-ring logo been permanently hung on it, it has undertaken multiple functions such as urban logo demonstration, tourism, and cultural display.
The tower body of Beijing Olympic Tower is composed of five independent towers with a height of 186 meters to 246.8 meters. Its design concept is "Tree of Life", which means that the tree of life breaks out of the earth's crust, grows naturally, and gradually extends around the top of the tower to form a crown shape. The five towers with different heights are similar in the air, with unique shapes, containing the vigorous and uplifting spirit of the Olympic Five Rings.
It is understood that in order to enrich the cultural content of Beijing Olympic Tower and spread the Olympic spirit, the Olympic Tower launched a permanent "Olympic Culture Exhibition" on June 12, 2018, and opened the largest Beijing 2022 official licensed merchandise retail store in Beijing on June 12, 2019.
On the Beijing Olympic Tower, the entire Olympic Park, including Bird's Nest and Water Cube, can be seen at a glance. When the weather is fine, you can also see the suburbs of Beijing through telescopes!
Olympic Forest Park
Beijing Olympic Forest Park is a sustainable ecological zone with natural landscape and vegetation as the main factors, and it is a green barrier between the central area of Beijing and the peripheral fringe areas.
As an important part of the Olympic Park, the Forest Park gives a new extension to the central axis of Beijing, which makes this unparalleled urban axis melt perfectly in the natural mountain and forest, embodying the ancient Chinese thought of "harmony between man and nature" and expressing respect for nature.
Olympic Forest Park is positioned as an ecological forest park, which focuses on the construction of large-scale natural landscapes surrounded by mountains and water, creating a natural, poetic and grand artistic conception and providing a good ecological leisure environment for the citizens.
The woodland, grassland, wetland and water area of Olympic Forest Park are helpful to restore its animal and plant communities, finally realize biodiversity, improve the value of ecological services, and improve the living environment of surrounding residents.
With small bridges, flowing water, scented flowers and chirping birds, verdant trees and glittering ripples, the Olympic Forest Park perfectly combines the beautiful landscape of southern gardens with the majestic landscape of northern China, embodies the traditional ideas of Chinese gardening culture for thousands of years, and integrates the modern Olympic elements into it to form a Chinese-style garden with the flavor of the times, showing the ever-changing and all-encompassing charm of Chinese culture.

National Speed Skating Hall of "Ice Ribbon"
As the only newly-built competition venue for ice events in Beijing Winter Olympics, the National Speed Skating Hall has reached the highest level of current domestic stadium construction. The venue covers an area of about 80,000 square meters and can accommodate about 12,000 spectators. It is the venue for speed skating in the Winter Olympics, when 14 gold medals will find their owners here.
The National Speed Skating Hall has achieved innovative breakthroughs in design concept, technical process, material selection and construction techniques. The venue has a single-layer bidirectional orthogonal saddle-shaped cable net roof, which realizes the first large-scale application of domestic high-vanadium closed cables in large-scale venues in China. The venue has a high-tech curved curtain wall system, which is assembled by 3360 curved glass units to create a "ribbon" shape that symbolizes the high-speed sliding of speed skaters. The carbon dioxide transcritical direct cooling ice-making technology are applied to produce 12,000 square meters of the largest ice surface in Asia.
The future National Speed Skating Hall will be an intelligent venue with a whole life cycle. It will introduce the technologies of "global digital twin system", "indoor and outdoor integrated positioning and navigation system", "energy management system", and brand-new "BIM operation and maintenance system", like equipping the venue with a "smart brain". A venue with a "smart brain" will bring new competition and watching experience to athletes and spectators. Scientific and technological achievements such as robots directing the way, unmanned vehicles, and virtual ice and snow sports will be presented in a more perfect form.
The "Ice Ribbon", which has the largest single-layer bidirectional orthogonal saddle-shaped cable net roof in the world, has a unique ice design of 12,000 square meters. It will not only undertake the competition and training of speed skating on the avenue during the Winter Olympics, but also be transformed into "Disney on Ice" for the citizens to engage in public ice activities after the Games.
