
The Waxworks Palace opened in August 1994 and displays the living during the Ming Dynasty by using wax figures. The whole palace area is 133,400 square meters and holds 374 wax statues. It is one of the largest waxworks museums in Asia. The Ming Dynasty is a turning point in Chinese history.
At the waxworks exhibition, visitors can view the business and trade that took place during that time as well as everyday situations of the moments in ancient China. For example, one can view how ancient people bought and sold silk, pottery and cotton. The life-size figures will be displayed vividly for patrons to view. Furthermore, visitors can read the “compendium of medical material”. It is among the few books that have significant influence on Chinese Modern Medical Theory. Moreover, the scene of Zhenghe’s traveling to more than 30 countries by sea in 1405 also will be reproduced at the exhibition.
