Qinhuangdao Museum of Glass was built in December of 2010, and is the first national glass-themed museum. The museum covers an area of 11.25 mu and has building area around 2822 square meters. It consists of four sections: exhibition hall, relics park, themed canteen and office zone. The museum contains public cultural facilities combining collection, research, education, presentation and leisure.
Exhibits presented in the museum are various, ranging from the origin of Chinese glass culture, development of glass technology of generations to the production process during the most prosperous period of glass manufacture. Some items on display are glass ornaments presenting folk culture; some are glass-made crafts showing modern art and some are exotic products coming from the abroad, which all fully express the important role of glass in people’s daily life and present its unique art charming.
After two years planning and construction, Qinhuangdao Museum of Glass was opened to the public in August 6, 2012, and up to now, it has received tens of thousands visitors. As the first glass-themed museum in China, Qinhuangdao Museum of Glass has received close attention and wide recognization by all sectors of society.
