In Huailai County of Zhangjiakou City, there is the largest national wetland park in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Area. Every spring, a large number of migratory birds come here to roost and forage, and it becomes the most beautiful scenery in the cameras of birdwatchers.

Guanting Reservoir National Wetland Park is located in the middle of Huailai County. It is 47 km from east to west, 26 km from north to south, with a total planning area of 203000 mu. It is the largest national wetland park in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Area. At present, Guanting Reservoir National Wetland Park is divided into five areas: ecological conservation area, restoration and reconstruction area, science popularization and education area, service area and utilization area.

In recent years, Huailai County has strengthened the ecological construction. It has continuously strengthened the protection and restoration project of the upper reaches of water of Guanting Reservoir, which has effectively improved the ecological environment. The water quality of Guanting Reservoir has been upgraded from grade 4 to grade 3; the number of wild plants has increased from 106 to 318; and the number of wild birds has increased from 169 to 181. In every migratory season, flocks of swans, geese, and wild ducks rest and forage in Guanting Reservoir National Wetland Park, which has become a "post station" and "paradise" for these migratory birds.

When visitors come to Guanting Reservoir National Wetland Park, they can feel the harmonious coexistence of human and nature, and see the Huailai County with "blue sky, clear water, green space, clean environment".

In addition, relying on ecological and landscape resources, a wetland museum covering an area of 33300 square meters has been built. The design of the museum is based on the concept of ring, and you can get close to nature in 360 degrees and blend in with nature. The exhibition area of the museum is 6400 square meters. It is a natural science museum. Centering on the main body of "Guanting Reservoir National Wetland Park", the exhibition integrates the concept of "science popularization tour" into the exhibition. In the exhibitioswsn hall, visitors can also learn about the vitality and beauty of Guanting Reservoir National Wetland Park through the migratory birds in four seasons.
