Jiangfu Park is undoubtedly a perfect place to appreciate orychophragmus violaceus in Beijing. Located in east Jiangtai Area of Chaoyang District, it faces the Fifth Ring Road to the east, Liangma River to the south, Beijing–Baotou Railway to the west, and Jiuxianqiao North Road to the north. It is a suburb park themed on "park with an air of forest" with gorgeous flowers in April.
Appreciating orychophragmus violaceusIn the blooming season, Jiangfu Park is full of orychophragmus violaceus. If you enter the park from the North Gate 1 of the southern area and walk 30 meters along the right, you'll be overwhelmed by a sea of flowers. Raised by stems of different lengths, the blooming orychophragmus violaceus spread their petals out like small crystal trumpets, gently sending the message of spring and dancing against the wind like elves.
They are so attractive to tourists that everyone takes out their phones to keep such a moment.
It's so sweet of the park to open some winding trails among the flowers, where tourists can take photos, appreciate the flowers closely and have a rest on the benches.
There is also a 920-meter fitness trail winding through the flower fields. Walking on the trail in the fresh air with flowers and lush trees, you’ll be relaxed physically and mentally.Besides the vast stretches, orychophragmus violaceus can be seen all over the park, for example, by the trails and roads, in the woods, by the stream, and even on the small island on the Wild Duck Lake.
An old track that went viral onlineIn the south of the park lies a winding disused track, completely original without any decoration. All the mottled rust and rotten wooden piles have weathered storms and rains, exuding a retro vibe. Therefore, it went viral online and attracted many visitors. Anyone from middle-aged people to young couples to lovely children who come here can get a perfect photo in whatever pose, which is worthy of being kept forever.
Both sides of the track are carpeted with orychophragmus violaceus in full blossom. Enjoying the unique scenery of lush green woods on both sides, tracts of blue-purple flowers and the clear blue sky, you may wonder who you’ll meet around the corner while walking along the track, or just look forward to a train roaring past like the days when you were young.
Wild Duck Lake full of funGoing through the woods south of the track, there’s the Wild Duck Lake. The lake, though small in size, has two small islands covered with green trees and flowers, brimming with vitality. The antique pavilion in the middle of the lake floats like a leaf in the water. The dark green lake water, dotted with willow branches, seems so rippled and sparkling against the sunlight. Wild ducks and mandarin ducks play in the water, chasing each other or flying happily.
The lake, which covers an area of about 13,000 square meters, is a constructed wetland transformed from a fish pond based on the design concept of “wilderness as the soul and forest as the body”. It has attracted nearly 21 species of waterfowl to inhabit here, such as herons, egrets, night herons, pond herons, mandarin ducks and mallards. Photographers often capture beautiful photos of these waterfowl here.
People may find themselves quiet down and relax in the presence of the lake, together with the trees and flowers on the shore, the islands on the lake and the clear blue sky.
Dianjiangtai, a historical siteStanding among the grass and trees, Dianjiangtai is mainly blue-gray, exuding a sense of mystery and history. Whether you are standing still or walking around, the begonia and stone steps on it are visually impressive, making you linger.
It was recorded in Beijing Place Names Book that there used to be a dianjiangtai built by Murong Jun, or Emperor Jingzhao of the Former Yan Dynasty during the Sixteen Kingdoms Period (304-439) of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317–420). Now it has long disappeared, but the Jiangtai region was named after it. The “Jiangtai Spring Willow” scenic spot in the park represents the long history of the Jiangtai region and implicates the booming development of the region like spring willows.
There are prominent signs showing directions at every intersection, so tourists can arrange their tour as they like.
