Hongjing Road

Hongjing Road in Fangshan District has two names, "the most beautiful country road in Beijing" and "the devil road closet to Beijing".

The Devil Road

With a length of 18.94 km streteching from Honggangkou, Wolong Village, Shidu Town, to Jing’er Valley, Xiayunling Township along G108, Hongjing Road is of great traffic significance linking G108 in northwest Fangshan District and Laibao Road in the southwest.

It’s more like a huge staircase winding along the mountain slope rather than a regular highway.

On both sides of the mountain road stands steep cliff and layered terraces, which are enjoyment to cyclists who were able to admire the beautiful scenery, but a terrifying challenge to self-drivers.

Within a certain distance from Jing’er Valley the road beneath is just normal mountain path, but it turns into the devil road several kilometers farther by Niangniangmiao Mountain.

It’s really a challenge to cyclists climbing upwards with an altitude gap of several hundreds.

For drivers, it would still be definitely scary even to those most experienced.

After passing the most dangerous part of Hongjing Road, one would have a feeling of pleasure looking back, like a climber on the mountaintop or an athlete after a competition. That’s why Hongjing Road is the sacred temple of self-drivers and cyclists.

Besides the thrilling path, the scenery on the way could also be quite charming. Hongjing Road winds along the mountain features like a ribbon fluttering against the natural view.

Mountains on both sides of the road shoot into the sky above like a silent giant , with an outline of the mountaintop like wolf's fang and dragon's backbone.

Cliff of several hundred deep lurks by the road, where cars looks like planes flying high up in the air.

Here one can see the most beautiful side of nature, a colorful world. With green as the main color, flowers of various colors are spread in the mountain. Maybe there’s a lily waiting at some corner, filling the air around with sweetness.
