South to Zhengyangmen, north to Dashilan, on both sides of Langfang 1st Alley in Xicheng District stands two rows of traditional and modern buildings. It is Beijing Fun, the hub of ancient and modern cultures.

Here you will bump into a tall Baroque building, which is a yellow-white western architecture with pillars at the entrance and doors and windows with exquisite images.

It is Quan Ye Chang, the most magnificent building of 100 years' history.

Quan Ye Chang was built in 1905, designed by Shen Liyuan, the first Chinese designer studied in France. It’s named was changed into Beijing Quan Ye Chang in 1936 as a demonstration to support the development of national business.

By the end of Qing Dynasty, Beijing Quan Ye Chang had become the center selling all kinds of commodities, which could be counted as the ancestor of shopping malls in Beijing.

Now the place is open to public if there’s any exhibition. It is also a venue for art galleries, speeches and salons from time to time. Inside the building, a glass skylight stretches towards the ceiling, through which cast both light and romance. It's a worthy experience to take a picture with the building if it's you can't get in.

Looking from the French window on the second floor, you can see Zhengyangmen, a landmark on the central axis of Beijing. On your west you can see the location of Yien Yieh Commercial Bank established in 1915 and on your east you can see the memorial archway on Qianmen Street. The store is at the crossing of ancient and modern time.

Bank of Communications, Yien Yieh Commercial Bank, Hengxiang Jewellery Store and Sanyang Jewellery Store are outstanding representatives of national industry and commerce during the Republic of China. You can still see the transition of time in Dashilan from every piece of their renovated brick and tile.

Standing on the twisting hallway against gray walls and the sloping ceiling, you can have a good view of old residences in south Beijing.

Upon sunset, the alley will be stained with a touch of gold, which is the unique “Beijing tone.”

Here in Beijing Fun, buildings of gray and red embrace hutongs in their arms and run towards the ancient memorial archway at the end of roads.
