Located at the east side of the Summer Palace, the Great Stage of Dehe Garden (Garden of Virtue and Harmony) is one of the major destinations. It is also one of the large wood-structured ancient opera theaters in China.

The Great Stage of Dehe Garden in the Summer Palace is one of the three major opera theaters in the Qing Dynasty, together with Changyinge (the Belvedere of Pleasant Sounds) in the Forbidden City, and Qingyin Pavilion in Chengde Mountain Resort, while the one in Dehe Garden remains as the largest, best preserved wood-structured antique opera theater in China, with delicate architecture design and imposing appearance. Therefore, the Opera Theater is highly valued in scientific and artistic field. It is also praised as “the Cradle of Peking Opera”.
