Among the five three-story grand opera theaters built in the Qing Dynasty, the Pavilion of Pleasant Sounds (Changyinge) in the Forbidden City and the Dehe Garden in the Summer Palace are the only two that remain till now. The rest of the five are Qingyin Pavilion in the Old Summer Palace, Qingyin Pavilion in the Chengde Mountain Resort, and the Palace of Peaceful Longevity (Shouangong) in the Forbidden City.

The two-story Yueshi Building is built in front of the opera house in the Belvedere of Pleasant Sounds for Emperors and Empresses to watch opera; the veranda was built on the both sides for royal families and subjects to watch opera; and the Banxi building behind the opera house was set for performers to get ready. The Belvedere of Pleasant Sounds has been opened to the outside for a long time without being known by the majority.
