Shanhaiguan Scenic Area is located 15 kilometers east of the urban area of Qinhuangdao. It was built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1381). Shanhaiguan is the starting point of the Great Wall of China, and is also known as the "First Pass in the World". The main purpose of visiting Shanhaiguan is to visit Zhenyuan Tower in Dongmen, which is the "First Pass in the World". The gate is about 13 meters high and is divided into upper and lower floors. On the west side of the building, under the eaves, there is a plaque “The First Pass in the World” written by the calligrapher Xiao Xian of the Ming Dynasty. Near the Shanhaiguan Gate, there is also the Great Wall Museum, which exhibits humanities, history, military activities and cultural relics related to the Shanhaiguan Great Wall.
