In the 2022 Spring Festival Gala, the poetic dance The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting has stunned the audience. The play takes the excellent Chinese traditional culture as the breakthrough point, and draws A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains with dance to revive the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty. While marveling at it, many people also noticed the famous painting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains of the Northern Song Dynasty. The painting was created by Wang Ximeng when he was 18 years old and is one of the top ten existing paintings in China. Due to the special pigment of the painting, the scroll has only been exhibited three times since the founding of the People' s Republic of China. Every time it is exhibited, the color will be affected.

With its general and refined techniques, dazzling colors and meticulous brushwork, the painting demonstrates the majestic mountains and rivers of the motherland. Therefore, it has been always regarded as a masterpiece amongst the landscape painting of the Song Dynasty. The picture shows the rolling mountains and the flowing rivers. The mountains are surrounded by high cliffs and waterfalls, and the winding paths lead to secluded places. The pavilions and lakes reflect each other, with houses dotted in between. The painting is currently collected in the National Palace Museum, and visitors can view it on the official website of the museum. https://minghuaji.dpm.org.cn/paint/appreciate?id=b0a15b3767a5c12089ec45563741112b

In addition to enjoying A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains online, you can also visit the "Auspicious Painting" landscape in the northwest turret of the Forbidden City. The rolling hills, winding rivers, and three-dimensional design make the famous painting no longer flat, reflecting the turret in the distance. At night, the lights are lit up, which adds to a sense of fantasy.

In addition, you can also go to enjoy the "Travel Thousands of Mountains and Rivers in A Painting" Palace Banquet Light and Shadow Art Exhibition. The exhibition tells the process of Wang Ximeng's creation of A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains. 80 sets of ultra-clear projections integrate VR, holographic, elevation and other choreography technologies, using digital technology to activate traditional culture to break the barrier of time and space, bringing you an immersive viewing experience that is visual, audio and tactile.

Once entering the venue, visitors are transformed into painters and move around with the staff in ancient costumes. Several women in ancient costumes are demonstrating traditional skills such as weaving, carving, tea art, brushes, etc. and giving a farewell to Wang Ximeng.

Thanks to the mineral pigment, the green color of the A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains has remained unchanged for thousands of years. The light and shadow technology are combined with the poetic dance to show the scene of artisans mining.
The most exciting part is the part of "Young Man Painting in High Spirit". The canvas is scrolled, and the light and shadows change. The young Wang Ximeng is drawing the classic painting with his brush and ink. After the performance, the crowd was still immersed in the dance drama.

Finally, the painting teacher will take you for a handicraft experience and color the fan of the painting. You can take the fan home!
