Moxibustion (Chinese: 艾灸; pinyin: ài jiǔ)

Moxibustion is a therapeutic technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which uses pure Moxa rolls (made from a plant called Artemisia Vulgaris, or mugwort) to apply heat therapy on acupuncture points. Moxibustion therapy in China has a history of thousands of years, and its effective treatment has been proven by numerous clinical practices.

Moxibustion is one of China's most ancient art of healing. Its herbal physical therapy originated in ancient times and had lasted for thousands of years. By using the Ai oil (or essential oils penetrate) to product a comprehensive warm flow of qi in meridians or around the affected areas of the body, it helps to enhance vitality and blood circulation, promote greater health and well-being and at the same time moisturize the skin.

The moxa roll or stick is made of dried leaves from the Artemisia Vulgaris plant; it allows to apply heat to moxibustion and acupoints in various areas and parts of the body.

Moxibustion may be applied individually or may be combined with other therapeutic techniques of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) such as Acupuncture, Chinese Phytotherapy (herbal medicine) or Chinese Massage in order to attain a stronger effect.
