In the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasty, a poet named Ding Henian, who focused on keeping in good health, first built Beijng He Nian Tang. Born in a family that works on Chinese medicine from generation to generation, Ding Henian acquired abundant medical knowledge and practices. Although he had a lifetime of hardship, Ding Henian was still healthy in old age and past away in 90 years old.

Compared to Tong Ren Tang - another time-honored brand of Chinese medicine, He Nian Tang has a much longer history.
