The International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 (Beijing Expo 2019) will take place in the Yanqing District of Beijing from April 29 to Oct 7. To make the most of the expo, Beijing Expo 2019 has released three attractive tourist routes for visitors. The three tourist itineraries combine natural landscapes, gardens and culture and are ideal choices for people to seek leisure and recreation, enjoy family activities, maintain health, and purify mind.
The tourist route of “Happy Hours” enables parents to escape the pressure of jobs, return to nature with their children, and spend a good time together by traveling the mountains dotted with croplands and orchards, listening to the singing of birds, and appreciating blossoming flowers and green trees.
Day 1: Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park- Beijing Expo 2019- Shanzha Xiaoyuan
Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park
The Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park is an artificial wetland consisting of the Guanting Reservoir of Yanqing District, inundated area with an altitude below 479m and intertidal zone, and also the only wetland bird nature reserve in Beijing.
In early spring, flowers blossom in a riot of colors and the willows put on green clothes, indicating the arrival of spring and presenting a thriving spring picture; in summer, the pink lotuses and green reeds stand gracefully in the lake, dancing with green waters; in autumn, the golden wild chrysanthemums, light purple tripolium valgare nees, white reed spikes and brown cattail spikes sway in sunset glow, which looks like a fairy land on the lake from afar; in winter, reed catkins and amur flowers fly in the air, unveiling a unique scene in this season.

Beijing Expo 2019
The Beijing International Horticultural Expo is scheduled to open on April 29 and run through October 7. More than 110 countries and international organizations as well as over 120 non-official exhibitors will present their latest achievements in horticulture in the 503-hectare expo site at the foot of the Great Wall in Beijing's Yanqing District. A huge collection of plants, flowers and eye-catching pavilions as well as ideas for green development at home and abroad will be presented for visitors.
Shanzha Xiaoyuan

Day 2: Longqing Gorge- Baili Landscape Gallery
Longqing Gorge
Longqing Gorge featuring gorgeous scenes with green mountains and blue water. Longqingxia reservoir like a bridge is connecting two steep mountains of over hundreds of meters high – this is why it is called Longqing Gorge, spanning through 40 or 50 meters, like a huge lock to trap two dragons. Climbing on the dam to overlook the north, the dark green water reflects the mountains around and white clouds above.
There are nearly 30 scenic spots along the 7 km reservoir scenic area already opened for tour. On both banks of cliffs are many strange peaks and rocks like Buddha, Shixiong Tiaoyan (stone bear jumping from a rock), Jiuliandong (nine-interconnected cave), Jiguan (rooster’s comb) Mountain, Jingang Mountain, Mati (horseshoe) Pond, Jiangjun (General) Rock and jingang Temple relics, which are called the Uniqueness outside Beijing. After the boat berths at a small pier of Jiuqu Lake, you can get on the bank and walk toward the top along the gorge, while enjoying the scenic spots like Shenxianyuan (immortal’s dwelling), Xianrenqi (chess played by immortals) and Laohuzui (tiger’s mouth) on the way.

Baili Landscape Gallery
At spots of Wulong gorge, Dishuihu and Chaoyang temple in Silicified Wood National Geological Park, visitors climb the mountain along the pavement, appreciate flowers, admire geological and human landscapes, and enjoy beautiful spring at the Baili Landscape Gallery. The park includes twelve spots, three districts and a 112-li-long (56 km) ring tour along the riverside, that's why it's called Baili Landscape Gallery.
The park is in good ecological condition and has rich tourism resources. Charming Baihe valley, marvelous Heihe gorge and mysterious Wulong Gorge nurtured magical silicified wood, impressive waterfalls and lush virgin Datan secondary forest, as well as holy Chaoyang Temple and ancient Guandi Temple. At present, there are six main scenic districts including silicified wood, Wulong Gorge, Dishuihu, Chaoyang Temple, Longwang Temple and Guandi Temple, 18 holiday villages such as Xiushuiwan, Changshouling, Gujiayao and Xiawan, geological landscapes like mini Kunlun Hill, Shujian Peak and marine deposit relic, nature sights such as Datan natural reserve, land of sunflowers and scutellaria baicalensis tea garden, human landscapes including Caimugou paleolithic site, Wenchang stone tablet and Yanshan Academy for sketching.
