Silver Street  

Silver Street is a section of road from Dongdan to Dongsi with a large number of shops for famous-brand clothes. Therefore, it is also called the “Noblemen Street”. Ritz Jane Shopping Centre, Longfu Building, shops of Lining sports wears, Puma clothes, Jeanwest, Baleno, Red Taps, and S. Korean shops specializing in clothes and ornaments are very fashionable and appealing, attracting many young people. Some peculiar small shops, such as KFC, Starbucks Coffee and Rbt, have become the best places for gatherings. It is a good idea to take a walk on Silver Street on a sunny afternoon. Where will you start -- Azona and neli to the east of the road, or Girddar to the west of it? Push open the glass door of a small shop, or step down the stone steps at the door of another one. While strolling leisurely, you will walk into another atmosphere. There is a saying that young people go shopping in Xidan, people from other places go shopping in Wangfujing, and white collars in the city go shopping on Silver Street. The former Silver Street was the gathering place of various specialty shops; at present, there are more and more small shops including some world-famous ones. Many artists come here to buy costumes when they are in Beijing. The small shops have distinctive characteristics. Some of them are 100-percent cool, some are warm and lovely, some are exquisite and luxurious, and some are natural and unsophisticated. The clothes here have a variety of styles, which usually give you a sense of surprise.In the past, some famous brands, such as “Apple”, “Crocodile”, “Theme”, “Taipan” and “Fortei” had two or three shops here. Although the prosperous scene is gone forever, people who feel sad about the “decline” of Silver Street can never ignore from the vitality and unique styles of the small shops on both sides of Silver Street. The original decorations and all kinds of goods in the shops make city dwellers pursuing fashion and seeking individuality forever wander on this street at the forefront of Beijing fashion like pilgrims.
