Clear Mirror Studio, the main building in the garden, was built in 1757 during Qianlong Period of the Qing Dynasty.  It is surrounded by water.  Emperor Qianlong wrote a poem describing it as: “A house surrounded by a pool in which the water is like a mirror;” thus the name given the building. It was a favorite place for emperors of the Qing Dynasty to rest and read during the summer.
