This palace was built during the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in 1655. It was the residence of empresses and imperial concubines of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Tongjiashi, Qing Emperor Shunzhi’s empress, gave birth to Xuanye （Emperor Kangxi, 1662-1722）here at age 15. Yongzheng’s empress Xiao Xian and Zhen Fei, Emperor Guangxu’s beloved concubine, once lived here.
