Sacred seat, also called sacred bed, is a shrine modeled on the imperial bed which was used by the emperor and empress in their lifetime. It is an imperial etiquette that the dead emperor should be served as if they were alive, symbolizing that the soul of emperor and empress can still use the imperial bed.
