Tianqiao Theater, a distinguished hot spot in south Beijing, lies in the south end of Qianmen Street, the middle line of Beijing. In the east it conjoins with Tiantan Park, the biggest forest park in Beijing and overlooks the Natural Science Museum across the street; in the north it links Central Ballet Company and Chinese Opera & Dancing Company, and adds radiance to cultural bodies like Zhengyici Theater and Huguang Guild Hall. An over-two-thousand-square-meter cultural plaza is under construction in its front face, which would be a new center of cultural events.
Started in 1953, Tianqiao Theater is the first theater built after the founding of PRC. China invested a lot to renew it in accordance with the criteria of the National Grand Theater.
