As one of Beijing’s two city flowers, Chinese rose features its own charming grace, vivid colors and abundant species that offer you a visual feast.

Originated in China with thousands years of history for its cultivation, the flower is crowned as the “Queen of Flowers”, and enriched with more than 20,000 horticultural varieties in some 200 years, classified into several kinds like China rose, miniature rose, multiflora rose, polyantha rose, large Chinese rose, large single flower Chinese rose and climbing rose.

Temple of Heaven

The 38th Chinese Rose Expo recently kicked off at the Temple of Heaven. Over 10,000 Chinese roses are exhibited on more than 20,000 square meters area. Constructed in 1963, the Chinese rose garden covers an area of 13,000 square meters, making it the biggest open Chinese rose garden in China at the time.

Zhongshan Park

You can find Chinese rose in the Zhongshan Park in front of Laijin Yuxuan Tea House, west side of the south gate of Yueyue Taiping and Xiliting Mountain. Zhongshan Park used to be the venue for worships of the god of the land and the god of grain. Later, in order to commemorate Sun Yatsen, the pioneer of the Chinese Revolution, it was renamed Zhongshan Park. The park is decorated with flowers breaking out at everywhere, all kinds of flower exhibitions are overwhelming. For sightseeing, it is definitely the best place far from the noisy and furious world outside.

Taoranting Park

Shengchun Shanfang Scenic Area, commonly known as garden for Chinese roses, lies on the west of the Taoranting Park and covers 14,000 square meters. The scenic area is marked by fountains and various kinds of Chinese rose. On the central square, there is a 3-meter-high main fountain, surrounded by Chinese rose blocks of radial shape. Each block is planted with Chinese rose of different varieties and colors. More than 160,000 Chinese roses in the garden are in full blossom at this time.

World Rose Theme Park

The World Rose Theme Park rests on the bank of Dalong River at the central area of Weishanzhuang Town in Daxing District. It occupies an area of 657 mu (about 0.44 square kilometer) and is the first comprehensive park with the theme of Chinese Rose in Beijing. The park collects more than 1,700 varieties and nearly 70,000 Chinese roses in the world, one of the largest metropolitan parks in north China.

Beijing Garden of World’s Flowers

Beijing Garden of World’s Flowers was built with functions of scenic spot tourism, popularization of science and culture and shopping and catering, where people can tour and take a close look at rare flowers and grasses, rare trees and classic scenic gardens both at home and abroad. Beijing Garden of World’s Flowers is composed of seven large greenhouses and fifteen gardens. The plants in the greenhouses are various and clustered. And outdoor scenes of unique gardens, squares and exotic buildings allow culture of world’s flowers and exquisite garden art to integrate together ingeniously and harmoniously, adding radiance and beauty to each other.
