The National Art Museum of China kicked off an exhibition featuring traditional Chinese paintings from artist Liang Shixiong.

The more than 60 artworks at the Country in the Heart exhibition will provide visitors a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see how the veteran artist's style has evolved over the years.

The 86-year-old Liang rose to fame in the art world with early works depicting the scenic beauty of forests in Northwest China's

Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

According to Wu Weishan, curator of National Art Museum of China, Liang, a native of South China's Guangdong Province, has been inspired by both China's Southern and Northern schools of painting.

Additionally, he has also experimented with branching out beyond tradition by painting Western scenery using methods and techniques often seen in Chinese landscape paintings.

The art exhibition is scheduled to run at the museum until April 21.
