1st Phase of Xihaizi Park Opens

After two years' of construction, the first phase of Xihaizi Park renovation project has been completed and the park opened to the public admission free, local authorities said recently.

The second phase of the project is under construction and will be finished by next year, with a planning area of 22.14 square kilometers. Construction will be carried out around Tonghui River, covering Randeng Pagoda scenic area and Tonghui River scenic area.

Xihaizi Park, located in the west side of the north end of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, park was first built in 1936. Situated at the north end of the Grand Canal from Beijing to Hangzhou, Xihaizi Park has beautiful environment and fresh air. A hundred-meter-long pseudo-classic architecture gallery stretches across the north and south lakes.

Surrounded by green mountains and rivers, as well as cultural relics and historic sites, it is a bright pearl embedded in Tongzhou City. There is an artificial hill constructed by utilizing the old city wall relics in the park, and a scenery pavilion constructed up in the hill where tourists can ascend to see all fine views in the park, and overlook the Randeng Pagoda constructed in the Northern and Southern dynasties.
