Dozens of experts, governmental department officials and travel agency representatives recently joined a training session and trade talk about tourism products related to healthcare and traditional Chinese medicine in the capital.

The event was inaugurated by the Beijing municipality’s Culture and Tourism Bureau and the Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

A dozen Beijing-based wellness and TCM itineraries, with different themes, were unveiled — for example, tourists will be able to get a glimpse into TCM and enjoy popular historic sites like the Great Wall and the Summer Palace in one day. They can also choose to visit a TCM museum, have an acupuncture treatment, sample medicinal cuisine, and even learn guasha, or skin scraping.

Cao Pengcheng, deputy head of Culture and Tourism Bureau, said the event aims to raise awareness about wellness and TCM tourism, get travel agencies connected with those from wellness and TCM industries, and boost integration of culture and tourism.
