Xishan National Forest Park

Located in the east of Xiaoxishan, the Western Hills National Forest Park neighbors natural mountain ranges on the west, Badachu Park on the south, the Fragrant Hills Park to the north, and Xiangshan South Road and Fifth Ring Road to the east. Needless to say, it is very easy of access. With vast stretches of mountain forests, it is home to a variety of wild animals. There were 10-odd species of beasts, 50-plus species of birds and multiple species of amphibians and reptiles. With an area of 5,970 hectares rising as high as 300 to 400 meters, this park strides across Haidian District, Shijingshan District and Mentougou District. Moreover, it also houses a dazzling array of historic sites like the tombs of Jingtai Emperor and seven concubines of Wanli Emperor of the Ming Dynasty.

Jiufeng National Forest Park

Jiufeng National Forest Park used to be the forestry station for teaching experiment of Beijing Forestry University. Famed for picturesque natural environment, it boasts of steep mountains, myriad peeks and externally and internally beautiful stones. From afar, a pair of peaks standing face to face atop the mountain looks like a lifelike soaring vulture, hence the name of Jiufeng (vulture) Peak. Long reputed for its engaging scenery since ancient times, Jiufeng Peak has preserved time-honored and intact temple culture and garden culture. Inside, the park accommodates many historic sites such as Jiufeng Villa of the Liao Dynasty, the Xiufeng Temple of the Ming Dynasty, the Xiangtang Temple of the Qing Dynasty, the Xiaozhai (Forgiveness) Temple of the Republic of China, the Chaoyang Guanyin Cave and the Thousand-year-old Hiking Trail.

Beigong National Forest Park

Situated at mountainous area in the northwest of Fengtai District, Beigong National Forest Park is distinguished as a hilly scenic area and known for a royal resort for emperors. Covering an area of 9.145 square kilometers, it consists of eastern, western and central scenic areas complete with a pair of nearly-10,000-square-kilometer complexes for ancillary facilities, Beigong Villa and Mingsheng Building. There are 12 cultural landscapes featuring pavilions, corridors, towers and pagodas, and 15 scenic spots such as Fangze Brook, Xiao Jiangnan (Little South China), Fenglin Lu (Maple Boulevard) and Hualin Gou (Birch Forest Valley). And it is the biggest park which is closest to the city center.
