On May 17, the training program for the 2022 Winter Olympics was launched in Yanqing district, Beijing. The program is expected to train 100,000 people from 2018 to 2022.

Yanqing's Human Resources and Social Security Bureau signed contracts with Beijing Industry and Trade Technician College and Shougang Technician College at the launch ceremony, agreeing to open training courses in pastry making, ski gear maintenance, and emergency treatment at ski resorts, among other subjects.

The training program will be tailored to serve the Winter Olympics and the International Horticulture Exposition (IHE) as well as address other human resource demands in Yanqing. Technicians and workers receive training to improve their vocational skills in various fields such as event security, winter sports, horticulture, catering service, and volunteer services, in order to ensure smooth operation at the Winter Olympics and the IHE.

Municipal officials said that with the Winter Olympics and the IHE approaching, the Beijing municipal government is striving to work with Yanqing district in strengthening vocational training and building training platforms. The upcoming events have brought opportunities as well as challenges to Yanqing, local officials said, and the training program will benefit the district with much needed technicians of different skills.
