Ya’akobi & Leidental is rich in content and vivid in plot, which can arouse the audiences’ various reveries and resonances and satisfies the psychological needs of contemporary young people in an incisive style. As a masterpiece by leading dramatist Hanoch Levin as a national treasure of Israel, Ya’akobi & Leidental was presented in Israel, France, the US and other countries for many years. Adapted based on the original work, directed by MENG Jinghui and starred by CHEN Jianbin, ZHOU Xun and TAO Hong, the drama Love Ants was also highly-praised at that time.
Synopsis
Protagonist Ya’akobi wants to bid farewell to an empty life of idling away his time, and intends to break off relations with his “good-for-nothing” friend Leidental and pursue a more meaningful life. He pays court to an enchanting fat girl Shahshir without delay.
Bewildered and desperate, Leidental not only badgers Ya’akobi, but also casts a covetous eye at the pretty Shahshir.
Clever Shahshir wants to earn money by playing on both men obsessed with her. She chooses the honey-tongued Ya’akobi, and refuses the idiotic Leidental. Nonetheless, her scheming effort comes to naught.
Tired of the old and fascinated by the new lover, Ya’akobi gives Shahshir the brush. Resentful, Shahshir ponders that jolter-head Leidental maybe a better choice...
