Start: Yongdingmen Gate Tower

End: Drum and Bell Towers

Highlights:

  • Yongdingmen Gate Tower

Lying on the south-north axis line of Beijing, Yongdingmen Gate Tower is a part of the city wall constructed in the Ming Dynasty.

  • Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven is a site of world heritage known as the place where the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties visited for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest.

  • Qianmen Pedestrian Street

Qianmen Street is a famous pedestrian street. It is 840 meters long running from Jianlou (the Archery Tower) of Zhengyangmen in the north to the turning of Tiantan Park in the south. Many featured shops are dotted along the street where you can buy a lot of local products.

  • Jingshan Park

Jingshan Park (景山公园) is an imperial park covering 23 hectares (57 acres) immediately north of the Forbidden City in the Imperial City area of Beijing. The park enjoys ideal location for visitors can have a panoramic view of the Forbidden City and the Beihai Park. The most wonderful panoramic pictures of the Forbidden City were taken from atop Jingshan Hill.

  • Drum and Bell Towers

Drum and Bell Towers are located at the north end of the axis line. They were first built in 1420, during the reign of Emperor Yongle in the Ming Dynasty. It used to be located at a shopping street in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
