Where to go: Chaoyang Cultural Center

2017-08-23

I doubted when I was informed that the Chaoyang Cultural Center is one of the best cultural centers in China. But when I stepped into the center, my doubts were replaced by amazement and curiosity. Upstairs, downstairs, across the corner, in the attics, on the walls and the windows, the whole center was overwhelmed by tons of local collections and cultural relics. A Buddha statue of the Tang Dynasty, a full-size gateway of the Old Beijing, an iron vat, a stone trough, traditional paper-cuttings, and modern statues, there are abundant things you can go and see.

In the Chaoyang Cultural Center, you can also enjoy seeing some of the best traditional performances, like women playing Dagu (singing the story to the accompaniment of a drum) and the famous Beijing Operas. With adequate facilities like theatres, exhibition rooms and studios, this is also a place for you to learn painting, calligraphy, singing, dancing, writings, photography and operas.

Everyone who has visited the center was amazed by its convergence of tradition and modernity. And it hopes to welcome many more guests who want to see a genuine Beijing.
