Glass sightseeing platform of Shilin Gorge Scenic Area in Pinggu District

As the largest glass sightseeing platform of its kind in the world, Glass Sightseeing Platform of Shilin Gorge Scenic Area in Pinggu District towers at the “First Bell of the Ancient and Modern Times” scenic spot, on the peak of Longwangding Mountain, the highest mountain in the Scenic Area. Overhanging 32.8 meters at length and housing 415 square meters, it is 11 meters longer than the Grand Canyon Skywalk in the United States.

Paved with 36-millimeter bullet-proof glass, this platform holds a designing load of 350 kg/m² and a peak load of 151.9 tons, and can stand 1,900 sightseers at a time. Triplex glass lined two-layer adhesive ensures each square meter can withstand over 700 kilograms and cross concrete tank cars. For safety sake,however, the maximum is limited to 200 sightseers each time, thus this scenic spot is precipitous while with quite safety.For the faint-hearted, this is truly a dare.

Glass skywalk of Qingliang Valley in Miyun County

The Glass Skywalk of Qingliang Valley and the Glass Corridor cross Trees were established on the highest hill “Jiuchongtian” in the Scenic Area. The glass skywalkclings to the steep cliff at the north side of JiuchongtianMountain, like a green snake winding upon the 1,000 odd meters bluff. Rambling in the air without overshadowingunderfoot, startles would overwhelm your, which makes you waver your feet with every gingerliness by grabbing the precipice. While at the west part of JiuchongtianMountain, towering trees and lush forests undulate in green waves when the mountain wind sweeping across. This is a glass corridor for you stepping on the treetop.

Where thrills you most is in the middle of the glass corridor, with two giant glass view platforms stretching out, the cantileveredcorridor out from the cliff in the air five meters afar, so nothing can support your further climbing. Stepping on the foot of the glass just as walking on intangible air, fallinginto the abyss can occur at any time.

Apart from the sensation seeking, sceneries here are more super excellent. Overlapped mountains shrouded by the clouds and mists at distant, but clouds just enwind fingers, a fairyland cannot get much better than this.

Glass skywalk of Tianyun Mountain in Pinggu District

Built on a 1,149-meter cliff of Tianyun Mountain Scenic Area, the glass skywalk spans some 160 meters. Together with the 600-square-meter sightseeing platform, 500 viewers can walk on air at the same time. With a bird's-eye view through the glass, the deepest area reaches nearly 100 meters.
