It is a tradition that make new wishes in temples for Chinese people, especially when it came to festivals. As the most important festival - the Spring Festival approaches, temples become much more popular than before.

1 Yunjun Temple

Yunju Temple is located in Fangshan District in the southwest of Beijing, and is about 70 kilometers (43 miles) away from the center of the city. It faces east, taking an area of 7 hectares is famous for the stone sutras it houses.

The construction was started from 605. Having been reconstructed and enlarged several times, it became an architectural complex including five courtyards and six main halls. During the Sino-Japanese War, it suffered great damage, particularly in 1942. After 1949, it was restored to its original glory.

2 Hongluo Temple

Honguo Temple, also called Red Shells Temple, received its name from a legend that two spiral shells gave out red light in the evening. Located at the foot of the Hongluo Mountain, the temple is seven kilometers northwest of Huairou County. First built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), the temple is worth a visit in early summer because of the wild flowers, fresh air.

3 Longquan Temple

Located at the foot of the Phoenix Ridge , Longquan Temple is surround by mountains and waters. With varieties plants cover most of the places, the temple enjoy fresh air than downtown places.

Built in the Liao Dynasty, Longquan Temple, has a history of more than 1, 000 years. Located along the ridge’s central scenic route, it look like many temples no longer frequented by believers burning incense in veneration and the main gate was dilapidated.

4 Wofo Temple

Wofo Temple is located about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from downtown Beijing and is near the Temple of Azure Clouds at the north foot of Xishan (Western Hill). It is a Buddhist Temple and one of the famous ancient temples in Beijing.

It was built during the Tang Dynasty (618 A.D. - 907A.D.) and has a history of more than 1300 years. It received repairs during the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. There is a bronze recumbent Buddha inside it, which is how it received the name.
